Terms & Conditions
These terms govern the provision of funeral services and funeral cover policies offered by Funeral Assist 24(“we”, “us”).
- Scope of Services: Burial, cremation, storage, repatriation and related logistics.
- Lapse of Coverage: All new members are subject to a six(6) months waiting period before cover commences but should a member die as a result of an accident three (3) months waiting period will apply.
All principal members must submit their copies of IDs on joining the scheme, and beneficiaries must have their ID numbers correctly filled in on joining the scheme.
Otherwise no cover shall commence if the information is not supplied in full or incorrect.
Members and their dependants are covered for the benefits indicated in this schedule unless indicated below
At death the beneficiary shall supply all relevant documentation needed to process the claim.
Cover shall lapse on non-payment of two consecutive monthly premium (60 days).
On reinstatement cover shall commence but a waiting period of 6 months shall apply in all categories.
- Eligibility for Cover: Adults 18+, additional dependants permitted. Waiting periods apply.
- Premiums: Payable monthly in ZAR via card, EFT or approved gateway. Non-payment may lead to suspension.
- Claims: Death certificate, ID/Passport, beneficiary details and policy number required. Fraud voids benefits.
- Cooling-Off: A 31-day cooling-off applies where no claim has been submitted.
- Dispute Resolution: Good-faith negotiation, then Ombud escalation where applicable.
Aligned with Consumer Protection Act principles and common funeral policy practices in SA.
Benefits for children under the Family Funeral Plan)
We process personal information lawfully and reasonably for the purposes of rendering services and administering policies.
- Children 14-21 years will enjoy 100% of the Benefit of the main policyholder.
- Children 6-13 years will enjoy 60% of the Benefit of the policyholder.
- Children 1-5 years will enjoy 40% of the Benefit of the policyholder.
- Children 0-11 months will enjoy 30% of the Benefit of the policyholder.
- Children 0-11 months will enjoy 30% of the Benefit of the policyholder.
Privacy (POPIA)
We process personal information lawfully and reasonably for the purposes of rendering services and administering policies.
- Lawful basis: contract performance, legal obligation and legitimate interests.
- Data subject rights: access, correction, deletion and objection.
- Security: encryption in transit, role-based access and audit trails.
- Retention: per legal obligations (e.g., FICA/insurer rules) and operational needs.
Complaints, Advice & FAIS
Where financial services advice is rendered, we strive to meet FAIS requirements and disclose conflicts, fees and risks.
- Disclosure documents available upon request.
- Register of conflicts & complaints procedure maintained.
- Ombud details provided on acknowledgement of complaint.
Human Remains Management
We follow National Health Act frameworks and the Regulations Relating to the Management of Human Remains.
- Appropriate storage temperatures and dignity standards.
- Transport permits and documentation for repatriation.
- Traceable chain of custody and facility accreditation.
